I truly enjoy nail polish from all sorts of brands… and LOVE getting the color of the season. However, I think for a grad student/anyone on a budget, its important to have limits. I recently understood that it was important for me to have at least a few pastel nail colors in my wardrobe for spring. I was particularly interested in these minty blues/pale yellows/bubblegum pink types. And then I realized that if you are on a budget and already have a sizable nail polish collection, you can’t justify buying every color just because it looks good. Then I discovered Orly Nail Lacquer Minis.
As promised I did just go back to my favorite salon Bridgette Jones, Kolkata, India. This is the same salon I got my hair cut and blogged about. I LOVE it. Its a red highlight with a wine base color. The salon used Schwarzkopf Igora in a bright red for highlights and a Schwarzkopf base shade as well. I did not note down the numbers (bad blogger!) but here’s Scwarzkopf’s website for your use. But here are the results!

I just wanted to do a quick repost about Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Stylemint. They came up with this amazing video about the evolution of the t-shirt to its cult status today.

A friend of mine recently got invited to an L.A. Wedding. It’s going to be in August and will be outside. Although she already owns quite a few pretty dresses, mostly from White House | Black Market. She wanted to go bright, bold and a little flashy for this wedding without spending a fortune of course.
So we were on the hunt, for dresses and shoes. We spent time in a lot of different stores, but as we all know, either the size fits or the price is right….never both.
We finally got lucky at JC Penney. They had a great selection of dresses, and they were on sale!
So here are the winners:
Remember my online jewelry find – Baublebar? Not only are they giving out a free piece of jewelry to new sign ups with this link, every Friday, they are doing something REALLY fun. They mark down one jewelry from it’s full price to $10. So every Friday you can score a high quality BaubleBar piece for a LOT less (check out last week’s post). I think it’s a fun idea, and it’s a great way to take a break from homework or work in general … or share it with a friend and hunt together (me and R did it together this week!).

I have recently stumbled upon a new and upcoming brand in India called Colorbar. I had heard about it from my mom,and she said this was an American company, since they marketed themselves as Colorbar USA. I do have a problem with this, because any research will reveal that these products are not American. They are in fact manufactured in India, and I think the brand should be proud of that fact. I, for one, would be fairly happy if they dropped the USA part. It would also be nice if the models used in the promo pictures were Indian. It would be a better representation of color cosmetics marketed for Indians anyways.
One thing is for sure my family and I love shopping at Macy’s. However, we never really shell out lots of money in the store. What I love most about shopping at Macy’s are their great sales. Also, once you become a Macy’s card holder they send you tons of coupons that work even on Sale and Clearance items! So finding a great deal is never too difficult.
